Vietnam to Join Chinese Fair to Boost Trade, Investment
The Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) is scheduled to organize a seminar at one of China's biggest trade fairs in Guangzhou to call for more trade with China and seek more Chinese investment into Vietnam.
The VCCI would encourage Vietnamese enterprises to take part in the 100th Canton Fair in Guangzhou on October 15-30, which is expected to draw the participation of 190,000 businesses from 211 countries and territories in the world, VCCI General Secretary Pham Gia Tuc told a visiting delegation from the China Foreign Trade Center (CFTC) on August 15.
Attending the event that has been regarded as China's oldest trade fair, Vietnamese enterprises will have chance to conduct market research on China's 120,000 best products, advanced machinery and latest technologies as well, Tuc said.
CFTC Deputy Manager Chen Ba Rong, head of the fair’s organizing board hoped that Vietnamese businesses would take part in the event and sign a number of contracts with Chinese partners.
In November 2005, Vietnam opened the Commercial Session Consulate General in the Guangzhou World Plaza on Huanshi Dong road in southern Guangzhou city of China, aiming to boost trade activities with Guangdong province and its neighboring localities.
Vietnam expects to earn US$3.2 billion from exports to China in 2006, up 8.07 per cent against 2005, said the MoT, adding that the figure is still modest in comparison with the expected two-way trade value of US$10 billion this year.
