CSR 2006 Awards for Leather, Footwear and Garment Launched
The Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) joined hands with the Ministry of Industry, Ministry of Labour, War Invalids and Social Affairs, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour, the Vietnam Leather and Footwear Association and the Vietnam Garment and Textile Association to launch the Corporate Social Responsibility Award 2006 in Hanoi on July 21.
This is the second year the Award was launched under the initiative of the ActionAid Vietnam – a non-government organisation – to honour enterprises with high social responsibilities, such as, a harmonious combination between Labour Code’s provisions and sales requirements, between corporate benefits and social ones, between rights and interests of labourers and employers, between economic benefits and environment protection, and others.
According to the Organising Committee, enterprises of any economic sectors can apply for the Award if they meet the following conditions: the Labour Code observance, profitable business in the latest three years, a good implementation of social policies to labourers and environment protection.
The Award will increase the reputation of the winners and create favourable conditions for domestic enterprises to raise competitiveness. Enterprises can submit applications before August 21, 2006. The qualifying round and enterprise check round will take place in October and November 2006. The CSR Award presenting ceremony will be opened in December 2006.
