Vietnam, France Ink Trade Cooperative Agreement

The Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) and the French Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Vietnam (CCIFV) have recently signed a commercial cooperative agreement with the aim of further boosting bilateral trade.
 
The agreement is part of the on-going program entitled “Vietnam-France Trade and Investment Promotion.”
 
Under the newly inked deal, the two countries will endeavor to improve bilateral trade, exchange trade information and publications, facilitate trade delegations to seek business opportunities and join trade exhibitions and fairs in the partner’s market.
 
According to Vo Tan Thanh, Director of the VCCI’s Branch in Ho Chi Minh City, France was the second-largest EU trade partner in Vietnam after Germany with two-way trade of EUR1.32 billion, and also the third-biggest EU investor in the county with 164 projects with total registered capital of EUR1.2 billion by late 2005.
 
Currently, France is the EU’s biggest ODA donor in Vietnam with annual average funding of EUR100 million since 2002.
