Vietnam Wants to Boost Tourism Ties with Switzerland
Vietnam is now willing to strengthen tourism ties with Switzerland, said Vo Thi Thang, general director of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT) at a seminar on Vietnam-Switzerland Tourism Cooperation held in Geneva on August 10.
The seminar, organized by the Vietnamese Mission to the United Nations and International Organizations in Geneva, VNAT and the Geneva Tourism Agency, was part of celebrations for the 35th anniversary of Vietnam-Switzerland diplomatic ties.
As many as 100 representatives from tourist organizations and companies of Vietnam, Switzerland and France attended the event.
Speaking at the workshop, the VNAT general director spoke highly of the two countries' fine relations in general and tourism cooperation in particular. She also mentioned difficulties that Vietnamese tourists have met when asking for entry visa to travel to Switzerland.
“I hope that the two nations will actively deal with such obstacle,” Thang noted, adding that Vietnam desires to further promote its cooperative ties in tourism with other countries, including Switzerland.
Christian Rey, former Chairman of the Geneva Tourism Council, and Francois Bryand, General Director of the Geneva Tourism Agency, said they were pleased with the close and effective cooperation between the Geneva Tourism Agency and its Vietnamese partners.
They expressed their hopes that the two sides would organize more activities to help further boost tourism cooperation between Switzerland and Vietnam in the upcoming time.
Vietnam received more than 9,700 Swiss arrivals in the first seven months of this year, up 11.4 per cent over the same period last year.
