Vietnam Remains Unattractive for French Arrivals

Vietnam has yet to become an attractive tourism destination for French visitors, manifesting by the modest on-year increase of 1.4 per cent of French vacationers to the country in the first eight months of this year.

With just 88,200 French visitors recorded during the period, Vietnam turns itself into less fascinating place for visitors from the Kingdom of Light who appear to have shifted their attention to other destinations, including China.

VNAT attributed the disappointing numbers to the fact that most French tourists demanded high-end services and quality accommodation, which tend to be focused only in large cities.

In the past few years, Vietnam often welcomed higher number of visitors from France with an average rate of around 37 per cent. “We would lose this potential market if we have not had timely measures to deal with the situation,” an official from VNAT said.

Vietnamese tourism officials suggested the country step up efforts to promote the nation in France as an attractive tourism destination and upgrade service and infrastructure for the hospitality.
