“This is a large work of great meanings not only in terms of tourism but also cultural and historical value. The tourist site has a large scale and great tourism value like other famous sites in the region and the world,” said Deputy Prime Minister Pham Gia Khiem when visiting the Dai Nam historical and cultural tourist site. Located in Hoi An commune, Thu Dau Mot town, Binh Duong province, the site has a total area of 450 hectares. It was built in the hope to become an attractive destination for Vietnamese and foreign visitors.

At the site, visitors can see a miniature Vietnam with many famous landscapes which were built to scale. The visitors will have a chance to see an image of the north symbolised by a miniature Ha Long Bay with floating lime mountains built on an area of 180,000 square metres. This is place where visitors can enjoy boat trips and swimming in cool and clean water.

The area for Central Vietnam has the Bao Son mountain range, which is the miniature of the Ngu Hanh Mountain. This is the biggest artificial mountain range in Vietnam. With different heights, the Bao Son range has a shape of a hand with five fingers, symbolising five basic elements, including metal, wood, water, fire and earth.
The south is symbolised by the Mekong River meandering by coconut trees and cottages.

The tourist site has enough entertainment facilities for people of different ages. Children may enjoy watching circus, going into the undersea world, while young people can surf and the elderly may feel relaxed with thermal spring services.

From an idea of depicting the beauty and outstanding achievements of 64 provinces and cities, the miniature Vietnam was built with 64 houses to help visitors learn about the Vietnamese land and people in every corner.

On the top of the central mountain in the Bao Son range, there is a nine-storey tower, called Bao Thap. The tower, 45 metres high, is an octagon-shaped building. Each storey of the tower is used for worshiping of President Ho Chi Minh, fallen combatants during national salvation resistance wars and construction, heroines and Hung Kings. The ninth storey is used to worship the Vietnamese homeland with a map placed on a brass drum with General Ly Thuong Kiet’s independence declaration poem. Also in the Bao Son range, Vietnamese history is depicted from the Lac Long Quan and Au Co time to the 1975 Great Spring Victory.

Apart from introducing Vietnam, the Dai Nam tourist site has areas for the world wonders including the Eiffel Tower of France, the Liberty Statue of the US, Angkor Watt of Cambodia, and the Golden Temple of Thailand.

The site’s hotels and restaurants have excellent facilities to meet the demand of visitors. With specific architecture, featured by houses hiding behind mountains, the tourist site hopes to bring relax and pleasure to visitors.

Huynh Tran Phi Long, general director of the Dai Nam historical and cultural tourist site, said: “With convenient location and excellent facilities, I believe that the Dai Nam tourist site will attract many Vietnamese and foreign holidaymakers. I hope the site will bring great impression of the history, the beauty of the Vietnamese land and people when it opens in 2007.”
