The Vietnam-Algeria Business Forum, hosted by the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Hanoi on December 20, attracted the participation of some 100 enterprises from the two countries.

Mr. Doan Duy Khuong, Vice Chairman of VCCI, said, the bilateral economic relationship of the two countries in recent years has always been developed but has not satisfied both. The two-way trade revenues were some US$60 million in 2005. Vietnam mainly exported rice, pepper, coffee, tyres, garments, textiles, machines and equipment to Algeria while importing machinery and equipment. At present, the two sides are very concerned about the constructional and industrial fields.

Mr. Naceur Boucherit, Algerian Ambassador to Vietnam, said, the enterprises of the two countries were encouraged to enhance exchanges in the framework of various programmes such as trade fairs, exhibitions and economic delegation exchanges. The businesses of the two countries will hold an important role in evaluating directions and means to put forth the concrete contents for the bilateral cooperative ties and build strategic partnership relations, enabling themselves to conquer African, Asian and other markets.
