Vietnam, China Border Localities Resume Tourism Routes
The northern Quang Ninh province of Vietnam and Chinese Guangxi locality have inked a deal reopening a roundtrip tour after two-years without such a service.
Tourists will arrive at Guangxi province on the Vinashin Rose hydrofoil departing from the Hong Gai port in Quang Ninh which is home to the world heritage Ha Long Bay.
Vinashin Rose, capable of carrying 210 passengers, is reportedly the first hi-speed vessel to transport Vietnamese tourists to China.
The reinstatement was said to be an effort of the two localities particularly and the two countries generally to boost tourism ties.
In related news, the Danang-based Tan Hong Tourism Company said it was set to receive a Thai group of tourists driving their own motorcycles to Vietnam via the Lao Bao border gate in Quang Tri central province. Thai visitors will call on tourist sites in Danang, Thua Thien Hue, and other central provinces.
Vietnam welcomed more than 40,675 arrivals from China in January, a decrease of 12 per cent on-yearly. (Young People Online)
