Vietnamese Ambassador to Italy, at a March 21 conference in Rome, called on Italian tourism businesses to intensify investment in Vietnam, adding the country always sees Italy as a potential tourism market.

At the conference, entitled "Tourism - A Driving Force of Peace", Ambassador Nguyen Van Nam stressed that Vietnam, with a young population, a diversified culture and abundant natural beauty, will bring many opportunities for international businesses and investors.

The event drew representatives from leading Italian and European travel agencies, including Chairman of the Universal Federation of Travel Agents Association Joe Borg Oliver.

The conference was held in anticipation of Rome’s March 22-24 international tourism fair, expecting participation of 1,200 tourism businesses and more than 4,000 travel companies from around the world.

Last year, Vietnam also held an exhibition named “Tourism and Asian Mass Media” to promote Vietnam tourism potential in Italy.

In the first two months of this year, the communist country welcomed around 3,800 Italian visitors, up 60.9 per cent against the same period last year. (VNA, Vietnam Panorama)
