Vietnam-Tunisia Business Forum was jointly held in Hanoi on June 27 by the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) and the Tunisian Embassy in Beijing, attracting nearly 100 enterprises from the two nations.

Vietnam and Tunisia set up diplomatic ties in 1972 and signed several agreements like Trade Agreement in 1994, Agreement on Economic, Culture, Scientific and Technological Cooperation in 1999 and Framework Agreement on Agricultural Cooperation. This is important prerequisite for the boost of multifaceted cooperation between the two countries. Vietnam-Tunisia trade ties have got facelifts in recent years but the revenue was still quite small, and Vietnam is nearly a pure importer. Vietnam mainly exports footwear, coffee, pepper and rubber to Tunisia while importing fertiliser and plastic materials. This forum is a chance for enterprises of the two nations to seek information and partners for the future cooperation.

Mr Abdelwahah Abdallah, Foreign Minister of Tunisia, affirmed Vietnam is an important partner and is a potential market for Tunisia in Asia. Thus, Tunisia wishes to boost up the business cooperation between enterprises of the two countries in the coming time.
