Vietnam's Footwear Exporters to Canada Gains US$28Mln in Revenue in Jan-May

Vietnam footwear exporters shipped 2.6 million pairs worth US$26 million to Canada in the first five months of this year, up 0.72 per cent in terms of volume and down 5.73 per cent in terms of value over last year, a source of the Ministry of Trade of Vietnam.
 
Of the total, metal-cap shoes dived 85 per cent in terms of volume and 81 per cent in terms of value although their prices up 26.6 per cent whist canvas and sport canvas shoes dropped 63.65 per cent and 68.3 per cent. 
 
The revenue of sport plastic capped shoes grew 210.2 per cent and that of leather capped shoes reached US$9.92 million and accounted for 34 per cent of Vietnam’s footwear exports to Canada, said the source. 
 
Vietnam shipped 23,300 pairs of water-resistance sport shoes to Canada for the first time this year, gaining US$363,240. 
 
In May, the footwear industry witnessed an on-year increase of 32.2 per cent
 
Vietnam exported in US$86.6 million shoes and footwear to the foreign country in 2006, up 19 per cent over 2005 thanks to good performance for a long time. (Vinanet)
