A delegation of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism is making a survey on tourism potential of six provinces in the central highland region, aiming to form a bridge linking local tourism agencies.

The localities are Dak Lak, Dak Nong, Khanh Hoa, Lam Dong, Binh Thuan and Ninh Thuan provinces.

The delegation focuses on activities to assess advantages and disadvantages of each local tourism sector as well as to consider the feasibility to form a tourism development bridge among the localities during the tour.

Based on the result, new tourism products and services will be introduced to help the region lure more tourists, making contribution to the regional social-economic development.

So far the ministry has made such surveys in north and central localities. It aims to conduct more in the mountainous area by the end of this year.

The move shows efforts and determination of the ministry as well as the central government in the national tourism development, hoping to turn the country into a more attractive destination in the world.

Vietnam received more than 2.46 million international arrivals in the first seven months of 2007, up 16.2 per cent from 2006.
