Over 20 Garment Businesses to Launch IPO in Near Term
More than 20 apparel companies will carry out their initial public offering in the remaining two months of 2007 and the first quarter of next year.
“The IPOs including Minh Phu Seafood, Hoa Phat Group, Ha Tien Cement No.1, Dong Phu Rubber, and Bourbon Tay Ninh Sugar will create more choices for players,” a trader with Kim Long Securities said.
The delay of Vietcombank’s IPO is said to indirectly have made Vn-index drop 19.28 points yesterday [November 5] and 15.44 points today, he said.
Between August and October, Viet Tien Garment, Hanoi Garment Corp (Hanosimex), Phong Phu Civil Textile and Phong Phu Textile launched IPO, and another two companies, Nam Dinh and Tan Tien Textile plan to auction shares in November.
Currently, GMC, NPS and TCM are listed apparel companies which listed their shares with the market value of VND2 trillion.
Vietnam’s apparel exports reached $6.41 billion in the first ten months, up 31 per cent on year, said the Ministry of Trade and Industry. The figure is expected at US$7.5 billion this year.
The sector is expected to have more advantages due to the U.S.’s quota removal after Vietnam became WTO member. (Vneconomy)
