Vietnam Tourism Lures Much Attention at World Travel Expo

Tourism showcase of Vietnam made strong impression on participants at the World Travel Market in London between November 12-15, according to Vietnam Tourism Association’s Tourism Consultancy and Promotion Center Director, Do Tung Lam.
 
The Vietnamese pavilion, co-hosted by the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism and the Vietnam Tourism Association, showcased the products and services of national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines and 15 Vietnamese tourism companies.
 
A series of activities focused on Ha Long Bay, including a campaign to have the bay listed as one of the seven new natural wonders of the world. The new list will be announced in August 2008.
 
Notably, a “happy hour” event, featuring traditional tours and other promotions received a great deal of interest, Lam added.
 
Over 200 companies from all corners of the world attended this year’s travel market, premier world travel and tourism industry event.
 
Vietnam is home to plentiful number of beautiful landscapes; especially it has five natural and cultural world heritage sites recognized by UNESCO, including the complex of Hue monuments, Hoi An ancient town, the My Son sanctuary, Ha Long bay, and the Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park. The country also has other world intangible heritages, namely the Tay Nguyen gong culture in addition to Hue royal music.
 
The country welcomed more than 3.47 million international tourist arrivals in the first ten months of this year, up 17.8 per cent on year.
 
Vietnam is looking to 4 million-4.4 million foreign visitors and 19-20 million domestic tourists with total revenue of VND56 trillion, or US$3.5 billion this year. (Vietnam & World Economy)
