Vietnam is building its image to attract tourists from around the world. Recently, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has implemented a comprehensive plan to attract more tourists to Vietnam and is running a video clip for Vietnam tourism on CNN. Vietnam Business Forum reporter Giang Tu talked with Mr Hoang Tuan Anh, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, about this issue.
How do you assess the effectiveness of the tourism video clip now being broadcast on CNN?
The 30-second video clip is being broadcast on CNN, one of the world leading television channels, on the anniversary of Capital Liberty October 10th. In this clip, Vietnam is shown as a country of rich culture. It also vividly describes Vietnam, with many special landscapes in the three regions, including Ho Chi Minh City, the ancient town of Hoi An, Sapa and Ha Long bay.
This programme is expected to contribute to Vietnam’s tourism trademark and help reach the target of attracting more international tourists to Vietnam. However, more coordinated tourism promotion measures must be implemented.
What is being done to satisfy the various demands of foreign tourists?
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has been trying its best to mobilize the whole branch to develop tourism infrastructure, diversify tourist products, and promote activities both domestically and overseas to increase people’s awareness of tourism’s role in social-economic development. Beside, we also emphasize the training of tourism human resources in order to gradually increasing tourism quality and services.
The whole branch will also concentrate its investment on overcoming the lack of high ranking hotels, and develop tourism in potential localities to attract tourists to other provinces from cities such as Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh.
The ministry has been implementing administrative reforms. What further concrete measures should be taken to increase socio-economic development?
In the overall economy, administrative reforms should be implemented with full cooperation among ministries and branches to produce the greatest contribution to socio-economic development..Ì
