Vietnam Imports US$925 Mln Apparel Accessories from South Korea

Vietnam imported US$925 million worth of apparel accessories from South Korea in the first nine months of this year, up 17 per cent on year and exported US$58.8 million to the foreign market, up 7.6 per cent, the Ministry of Trade and Industry reported.
 
In September, Vietnam bought up to US$581.9 million of dressmaking cloth from the foreign country, up 26 per cent on year, 21,400 tons of thread worth US$49 million, down 3 per cent and up 8 per cent on year, respectively.
 
Vietnam's finished cloth exports in the nine-month span reached US$12.1 million, up 55 per cent on year, which accounted for 20 per cent of the total value during the time, the ministry said, forecasting the shipments would increase sharply by the end of the year.
 
The Vietnamese exporters reportedly shipped 310,000 overcoats worth US$4.6 million, up 146 per cent and 131 per cent on year, respectively. However, the export items of jacket and trousers recorded considerable decreases.
 
As many as 370 Vietnamese apparel businesses exported to South Korea in the period, up 35 per cent on year.
 
The two countries are now seeking measures to boost the bilateral trade to US$10 billion in the next five or seven years, up from US$4.85 billion in 2006. (www.baothuongmai.com.vn))
