The programme “Enhancing Competitiveness for Vietnamese Exporters” was recently co-organized by Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry Ho Chi Minh City Branch and Norwegian Trade and Tourism Union (HSH). The programme will improve the skills of Vietnamese enterprises in textile, arts and crafts, and furniture decoration, promoting exports to the European market.

There are two parts in this programme; the first part focuses on enhancing skills of enterprises through training courses on negotiation and contract formation; the second is mainly on improving quality supervision under the guidelines and assistance of local and foreign specialists.

On this occasion, representatives of HSH and enterprises of both countries have exchanged experiences. It is concluded that for success in the European and global markets, Vietnamese enterprises should consider product and service quality as well as cultural differences as key factors in their business strategy. The HSH’s specialists added that Vietnam has large export turn-over but lacks equivalent profit because the trade is through intermediary countries such as Singapore and Korea; therefore, it is necessary for Vietnam to expand its direct export turn-over.
