Many leading businesses from Argentina expressed their special interest in business and investment environment in Vietnam, said a seminar “Vietnam-Argentina Business Cooperation” organized in Hanoi August 11.

They have closely followed Vietnam’s policies for foreign investors and long for developing trade ties with Vietnamese partners, especially in tourism, said the seminar held on the occasion of the Vietnam visit by an Argentine business delegation led by State Secretary for Foreign Affairs Ambassador Luis Kreckler.

There are numerous opportunities for Argentinean investors in Vietnam as the nation needs up to US$140 billion to develop infrastructure, energy, agro-fisheries, light industry, tourism, mining, transport and mechanical engineering during the 2006-2020 period, said Vice President of the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) Hoang Van Dung.

Speaking at the event, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Do Huu Hao highly appreciated great efforts by Argentinean Ambassador to Vietnam, Thomas Ferrari to enhance bilateral relationship and his initiative in organizing the seminar to enhance Vietnam-Argentina economic ties.

Currently, Argentina is the biggest Latin American trade partner of Vietnam in terms of trade value of over US$450 million in 2007, up 500 per cent over the figure of 2000, said the Industry and Trade Ministry, adding that the Southeast Asian country always runs a trade deficit with the Latin American country.
