Vietnam to Host 3rd Int'l Rice Conference in 2010

The International Rice Research Institute (IRRI) has selected Vietnam to be the host of the third International Rice Conference, IRC 2010, Dr. Robert Zeigler, director general of the IRRI announced October 24.
 
“The future of rice” conference, to take place in Hanoi city, will attract more than 1,500 representatives from Asia, Africa and America.
 
It will include the 28th international seminar on rice research, the 3rd global workshop on the rice trade, the 3rd international exhibition of rice growing technology and civilization, and the 50th anniversary of the IRRI’s establishment.
 
IRC 2010 will be an opportunity for agricultural scientists to share results of their research and the latest technology for rice cultivation and production. At the same time, representatives will call upon state and private organizations to support rice research and help farmers apply modern technology.
 
The Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Cao Duc Phat, said this is the first time Vietnam will host the IRC and the event will be a good opportunity for Vietnamese agricultural scientists and researchers to exchange their experience with others coming from different parts of the world.
