Garment Orders Fall 20 per cent
Vietnamese textile and garment companies reported a 20 per cent decline in new orders over the past three months after demand from overseas customers fell.
Footwear shipments will reach US$9.1 billion this year, lower than the US$9.5 billion target, said Le Quoc An, chairman of the Vietnam Textile and Apparel Association (Vitas).
The sector initially expected to make export revenues of US$11.5 billion in 2009 but with reducing production situation in the final months of 2008, it will have to lower its target to US$9.55 billion, an on-year rise of 5 per cent. (Young People)
