Vietnam Licenses US$64 Bln FDI Projects This Year, up 199.9 per cent On Year

Vietnam has licensed US$64 billion of 1,171 FDI projects this year, representing a sharp on year increase of 199.9 per cent, the record high so far, according to the Ministry of Planning and Investment's Foreign Investment Department.
 
The projects include 572 FDI projects totaling US$32.6 billion in industrial and construction sectors, 554 service projects capitalized at US$27.4 billion and the remainder of agro, forestry and fisheries projects, the department said.
 
Malaysia is taking the lead with 55 projects with registered capital of US$14.9 billion, including US$9.79 billion steel production complex by Lion Malaysia and Vietnam's Vinashin, the department added.
 
The central coastal province of Ninh Thuan ranks first in FDI attraction in Vietnam.
 
Foreign-invested firms have posted exports revenue of US$24.5 billion, accounting for 40 per cent of Vietnam's exports value, and imports of US$28.5 billion. (Youth)
