President of the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), Dr. Vu Tien Loc, on March 3 met with the Brazilian, Ukrainian and Albanian ambassadors to Vietnam at the VCCI head office in Hanoi.

Brazilian Ambassador Joao De Mendoca Lima Neto said Brazilian companies are now very interested in the Vietnamese market and they especially want to form cooperative ties with Vietnamese partners in the fields of energy and electric production, which is also of the Vietnamese Government’s concern. Several Brazil-based banks are now willing to pour money into these fields in Vietnam. “Vietnam is now in need of capital for power production and is willing to create favourable conditions for Brazilian companies to build power plants and import related machines into Vietnam,” said Dr. Vu Tien Loc.

Ukrainian Ambassador Ivan Dovhanych said the traditional relationship between Vietnam and Ukraine is progressing and the top concern is the further development of trade-economic and investment cooperation between the two countries. Mr Ivan said the two-way trade revenue reached US$130 million in 2007 but jumped to US$550 million in 2008. “The bilateral trade revenue can amount to US$1 billion in the coming time and the Ukrainian Embassy in Vietnam will bridge businesspeople in the two nations at this highest ability,” added Mr Ivan. He also wished the chambers of commerce of the two countries will enhance cooperation and provided VCCI with a list of Ukrainian enterprises interested in Vietnam.

Mr Loc expressed the willingness of VCCI in building closer ties with the Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce and hoped to diversify investment and commercial ties between the two business communities.

On the same day, Mr Loc also met with Albanian Ambassador to Vietnam.
