The development of Phan Thiet city into a big urban area by 2010 is one among many feasible projects that central southern Binh Thuan province will be able to do. In its master strategy for tourism development from now to 2010, Binh Thuan is targeted to give priorities to investors or investment projects to build luxury resort sites, ecological resorts, trade centres, sea sports and recreational centres.
Special tourism potential
Endowed by nature with a long coast, white sand and picturesque blue sea water, the tourism sector is considered to be one of the most potential fields of Binh Thuan. Particularly, weather conditions here are warm with sun all year around; beaches are clean and beautiful and the transport system is convenient. Some places like Phan Thiet, Ham Tan, Tuy Phong have huge potential for building tourist complexes including a chain of convalescence resort sites, golf courses, cruiser, mountain climbing, fishing. At present, Phan Thiet city is developing such tourist models including an 18-hole golf course, five hotels, six tourist villages with over 400 luxurious bedrooms and a system of tourist villages, inners with over 800 rooms along the coast, which are always available to serve the demand of accommodation and entertainment of visitors and investors. In addition, Binh Thuan is also home to many famous cultural and historical relic sites and interesting landscapes such as cultural relics involved in the Champa dynasty, Ong Hoang belvedere, Ta Kou cultural relic site, Hang pagoda, Thay Thim palace.
Taking advantages of great potential in natural resources, sharp-witted investors particularly foreign investors, have planned for resort projects of international standards in Mui Ne and Phan Thiet.

Huge projects include Phan Thiet airport project, an entertainment complex along the road route 706B linking Phan Thiet and Mui Ne, a trade centre in northern of Phan Thiet city, a luxurious resort site in Long Son-Suoi Nuoc, an urban area nearby Phu Hai beach. The projects are not only feasible to the province’s potentials, but also suitable to the world’s new trend.
Attractiveness
According to Binh Thuan Department of Planning and Investment, following the construction trend of coastal villas, the province is planning to build hotels and seas sport complexes. Particularly, the Hon Rom-Mui Ne tourism site is being conducted by the Thien Hai JS Company with the total investment of VND1.88 trillion. The site includes many functional areas like area of villas, resort, system of three-five star hotels, modern recreational area, public facilities and gardens.
Another four-star luxurious resort has just been licensed by the provincial people’s committee. The Dreamland resort site, invested by the Thien Ha Star JS Company, covers an area of 2.57 hectares. The hotel system include 150-170 bedrooms and a resort is designed in accordance with the coastal architecture. The special point of Dreamland is a complex for entertainments, shopping, meeting-halls to MICE tourists and system of modern sports facilities.
Vietnam Tourism Administration (VTA) and Binh Thuan Province have targeted to develop the Phan Thiet city into a huge urban area of the country by 2010. Thus, apart from projects of luxurious resort sites, the province always gives priorities in calling on investors to build entertainment centers, ecological and sea sports complexes. Besides the Ocean Dunes golf course located right in the city centre, Phan Thiet is promoting another namely Sea Links, situated on sand hills. The Sea Links golf course costs nearly VND1 trillion, invested by the Binh Thuan-based Rang Dong corporation. It also includes other functional areas like 245 luxurious villas, five-star hotel, system restaurants, swimming pools, tennis courts and bowling. The project is expected to become operational in April 2009. Recently, Binh Thuan has granted an investment license for the Delta Valley limited company to build a tourist complex on an area of 1,000 hectares in Tien Thanh commune. The work, including 250 villas, a system of five-star hotels and entertainment areas with investment capital of US$400 million, is expected to be completed in 2015.
Having been recognized as the second-class urban area in February 2009, Phan Thiet City is now considered an attractive destination fro both visitors and investors. In addition, the local authority has also pledged to give priorities and build a sound investment environment. For that very reason, Binh Thuan is becoming a potential land for investors, as well as gathering the newest investment trends of the world.
