Mid-Autumn Festival for Children in HCM City
On 26 September 2009, volunteers of 10 social working groups from Ho Chi Minh City joined together to hold event “CHUNG TAY 1 – TRUNG THU AM AP” for children at Cu Lao Loi Quan, Tan Phu Dong Dist., Tien Giang province from proceeds collected of DHI company (6.000 notebooks, 200 moon cake, 50 primary schoolbook and candy), Melior Business School (1,200 pens and USD 150), staffs of IBM company (VND 10,400,000) and sponsors of 10 social work group.
All funds and gifts collected brought happiness for 600 children in Tan Phu Dong District. The gifts include notebooks, stationary, moon cake, candy, lantern, and enjoy musical show performed by volunteers and local children like prestidigitation, game show, “Chu cuoi cay da” lively scene, “Chi Hang” performance and especially lantern parade of 600 children in sparkling candles early make the participants moved because this is the first time children in this poor and difficult transportation area in Tien Giang established on April 30, 2008 enjoy such a Mid-Autumn Festival.
Apart from 10 social working groups from Ho Chi Minh City, there were also representatives of People’s Committee of Ward and Quarter, School managing board of Phu Thanh and Tan Phu primary school, representatives of IBM company, DHI company and Melior Business School.
“Chung tay I – Trung Thu Am Ap” is the first event that 10 social working groups joined together to build a better life. “Chung tay II” about environment will be hold on December 2009.
