U.S. Tourists to Vietnam Rise 36% to 35,400 in Jan-September
U.S. visitors to Vietnam increased 36% to 35,400 in the first nine months of this year, the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT) said.
In September, the communist country saw increase in the figure of travelers from China and the Republic of Korea. Of the total number of foreign holidaymakers to Vietnam in the month, up to 37,200 were from China, an on-year increase of 3% and 30,100 came from the RoK.
However, the total number of foreign tourists to the communist country during the period dropped by 16% from a year earlier to 2.7 million.
The global economic crisis and swine flu epidemic are the main factors behind the fall, major domestic travel firms said.
To deal with the situation, the tourism industry is stepping up efforts to develop its infrastructure, revise local tourism planning schemes, increase promotional programs abroad and strengthen international cooperation in the field. (VNAT)
