Vietnam’s Total FDI to Hit $147.1B in 2006-2010: Ministry

Vietnam is expected to attract $147.1 billion in foreign direct investment (FDI) in 2006-2010, 2.7 times higher than the set target. Of the sum, Vietnam estimated to disburse $654.5 trillion, 1.4 times higher than the set target, the ministry said. 
 
In the 2005-2010 period, international donors are expected to pledge $23 billion in official development assistance (ODA) for the Southeast Asian country, exceeding the set target of between $19 billion and $21 billion.
 
At the CG Meeting 2009, foreign donors pledged a total of $8.063 billion in aid for Vietnam next year, the record high to date.
 
Of the sum, the World Bank pledged $2.498 billion, Japan with $1.64 billion, the Asian Development Bank (ADB) with $1.479 billion and the EU with $1.082 billion. (Vietnam Economic Times)
