U.K. Firms Invest US$2B in Vietnam So Far

The U.K. firms have to date poured nearly US$2 billion into 126 projects in Vietnam, becoming the biggest investor among EU nations making direct investment in the Southeast Asian country.
 
Currently, BP, Shell, BAT, GlaxoSmithKline, Tate & Lyle, Prudential and Standard Chartered Bank are the main U.K. investors in Vietnam.
 
Many other companies said they will expand their business activities in the developing country.
 
Trade between Vietnam and the U.K. increased 7.4% from a year earlier to £1.064 billion (US$1.69 billion) in the first ten months of this year.
 
Trade between Vietnam and the U.K. is expected to reach US$3 billion in the next years from US$1.9 billion in 2008. (Liberated Saigon)
