Hundreds of regional tourism officials will take part in the ASEAN Tourism Conference in the central province of Danang from Mar 27-28, the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT) said.

During the two-day event, participants will share experience and discuss measures to boost regional tourism development and cooperation, according to the VNAT.

ASEAN has emerged as the fastest growing market for Vietnam’s tourism. The number of arrivals from ASEAN countries in Vietnam rose by 21% to 473,000 in the first half of 2009.

Last year, ASEAN member countries received more than 54 million international travelers, a 7% on-year increase despite the global economic downturn. (Vietnam & World Economy)
