The Vietnamese tourism industry will see a two-digit growth thanks to an increase in private investment in the sector, said RNCOS, a leading global market research and information analysis company.

Many private investors have poured large amounts of money into the tourism industry, as the demand for accommodation surged in the context of various activities in celebration of the upcoming 1,000th anniversary of Thang Long-Hanoi, the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT) said on its website Mar 17, citing RNCOS.

RNCOS report on the Vietnamese tourism industry until 2012 forecasts a surge in outbound tours alongside the rapid economic growth of the Vietnamese economy in recent years, with people’s incomes increasing considerably and a high percentage of young workers in the country’s population.

The company remarks that Vietnam is among the most favored destinations for tourism in the Asia-Pacific region and its tourism industry has been growing fast over the past few years.

In 2009, the local hospitality industry accounted for 13.1% of the GDP and grew at a pace double that of the GDP despite the global recession, RNCOS said, adding that the country will attract more tourists from around the world in the future.

Vietnam aims to welcome between 4.5 million and 4.6 million foreign travelers and earn tourism revenues of between US$4 billion and US$4.5 billion this year. (vietnamtourism)
