Chinese tourists to Vietnam jumped 95.4% from a year earlier to 511,847 in the first seven months of this year, the National Administration of Tourism (VNAT) said.

In July, the Southeast Asia country welcomed 74,633 travelers from China, up 4.1% on month and 113.6% on year, the VNAT added.

The sharp increase was attributed to the recovery of the national and world economy and efficiency of promotion campaigns.

Last year, Vietnam received 528,000 Chinese holiday makers, still lower than the record of 778,000 in 2004.

The country aims to welcome over one million Chinese tourist arrivals in 2010, doubling last year’s figure. (www.vietnamtourism.gov.vn)
