U.K Seaport Operators Seeking Investment Opportunities in Vietnam
Seaport operators from the U.K. are willing to help Vietnam to improve sea transport and management, British Ambassador to Vietnam Mark Kent said.
He announced the information at the seminar held in Hanoi on Oct 5 on the occasion of a three-day visit of nine British seaport businesses to Vietnam.
The Southeast Asian nation has a huge potential for marine development with 3,200 kilometers of coastline, 39 seaports and strategic location.
While the U.K has significant experience in port design and construction, consultancy service, project management and logistics services that will facilitate Vietnam to map out suitable solutions for developing port facilities.
Addressing the event, Deputy Minister of Transport Nguyen Hong Truong said the Vietnamese government has set a plan for the infrastructure development of Van Phong deep-water port in the central province of Khanh Hoa and Lach Huyen international port in the northern city of Haiphong till 2015.
The U.K’s businesses have invested $2.22 billion in 134 projects in Vietnam so far, ranking the 17th among foreign investors and aiming to raise their direct investment to $3 billion by 2013. (Vietnam & World Economy)
