SCCI and MCCI assist VCCI in capacity building

On October 11, 2004, VCCI organised the first workshop in Hanoi in the framework of cooperation with the Sheffield Chamber of Commerce and Industry (UK) and Marseille Chamber of Commerce and Industry ( France ) with a view to increasing the capacity of VCCI staff in assisting and consulting enterprises in understanding and exporting to EU market.

The project "Asia Invest Alliance" has been implemented since August 2004 and will be concluded in April 2005. Experts from SCCI and MCCI will organise training programmes in Hanoi for VCCI staff on such topics as collecting market information, developing consulting services to enterprises, processing internet information, amongst others. After the training, VCCI staff can provide consulting services and on-the-job training for the enterprises on efficient export practices. After the training, four VCCI staff members will participate in a study-tour to Europe .

Mr Stephen Mitchell, Director of Business Development, SCCI, said that a similar project has been started in Laos and will be completed by the end of 2004. SCCI has a special interest in South East Asia and will establish partnerships with relevant organisations.

As ASEM 5 has successfully concluded in Hanoi , the implementation of the project is most appropriate. The project will increase the capacity of VCCI staff and contribute to strengthening trade relations between Vietnam and Europe .
