VCCI Launches Golden-V Creative Design Competition

With an aim at discovering and encouraging talent in product design, the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) has recently launched the Golden-V Creative Design Competition in 2005. The contest is not only for handicrafts but also other household and decoration products.

The Golden-V award is not only to honour talent in design but also to encourage individuals and enterprises to manufacture products of good design, thus increasing the competitiveness of Vietnamese products in the international market. Also, the event helps improve the awareness of the community in maintaining the traditional cultural value of Vietnam ’s products. This is an opportunity for Vietnamese designers and artisans, as well as manufacturers to promote international co-operation. Alongside the event, VCCI will develop a playground for designers via the trading floor at www.vgold.com.vn.

Pham Thi Thu Hang, director of the Small and Medium Enterprises Promotion Center of VCCI, said that, 100 works would be selected for awards. These must be products which are yet to join any design competition and to be sold in the domestic and international market. The award presenting ceremony will be held in November, 2005.

Products winning awards of the contest will be introduced in Vietnam Business Forum newspaper, and English VIB Forum, as well as on the website www.vgold.com.vn and special editions of magazines at international fairs and exhibition.
