Scientists to Join Annual Meeting between PM and Enterprises
The 2005 annual meeting between the Prime Minister and enterprises, which is themed ‘Vietnamese enterprises with socio-economic development tasks in the 2006-2010 period,’ is scheduled in Hanoi on December 21 and 22.
At a press conference on November 15, 2005, Pham Viet Muon, deputy head of the Governmental Office, said that attending the meeting would be representatives from major State-owned enterprises, business associations, outstanding Vietnamese and foreign private enterprises. Muon went on to say that apart from socio-economic development plans and orientations for the next five years introduced by ministries and agencies, the meeting attendants would discuss implementation solutions and concrete targets based on the meeting’s orientations on business start-up and taxation roadmap.
Regarding the report of the settlement of urgent issues and difficulties raised by enterprises during the 2004 meeting with the Prime Minister, Pham Gia Tuc, general secretary of the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), said that most issues and difficulties had been completely settled. Most proposals and comments of enterprises sent to VCCI after the 2004 meeting had been answered and settled by ministries and relevant agencies. The remaining issues, which are beyond authority of the ministries and agencies, should wait for guidelines from the Prime Minister.
Tuc noted that attending the 2005 annual meeting with the Prime Minister would be outstanding enterprises, representing over 200,000 enterprises operating in Vietnam. More importantly, enterprises should have clear and specific inputs and comments to the 2006-2010 socio-economic development strategies. A specific feature of this year’s meeting compared to the previous meetings is the participation of scientists, who will comment and evaluate the 2006-2010 socio-economic development orientations suggested by enterprises and business associations.
According to Muon, the meeting had been scheduled on December 21 and 22 aimed to encourage the spirit of ‘entrepreneurs, who are soldiers during the peaceful time.’
