Leaving Nature to Itself
On September 7th, the Tam Dao National Park, located about 70km North of Hanoi and the German National Park Bayerischer Wald signed a partnership agreement. This cooperation was initiated by the German Agency for Technical Cooperation (GTZ) and its further supported by a German –Vietnamese technical cooperation project.
The partnership between the national parks focuses on environment protection, sustainable development and environment education and was brought to life last week, when 24 National Park Rangers and employees of the tourism sector participated in a training course to become “Forest Guides” in Tam Dao National Park. This course was a first step to promote environmentally friendly tourism and nature experience in Tam Dao.
Both national parks also collaborate in the context of the UNESCO project “Man and Wilderness”. Other joint activities will be the outfitting of an information center in Tam Dao, the participation of the population, training of Vietnamese National Park staff in Germany as well as intensive exchange with the youths in the Wilderness Camp.
The goal of this partnership is to achieve the national park philosophy: “Leave nature to itself and welcome the human being as an intensive observer” says Lukas Laux, of the National Park Bayerischer Wald.
