Seminar on Vietnam's Commitments Following WTO Entry
In a bid to help member companies acquire information related to Vietnam’s admission to the World Trade Organisation (WTO), the Ho Chi Minh City branch of the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) hosted a seminar on “Vietnam’s commitments in WTO accession” in early February 2007.
Mr Luong Van Thai, Deputy Director of Ministry of Trade’s Multilateral Trade Policy Department, introduced several of Vietnam’s WTO admission commitments, including non-agricultural assistance, non-tariff barriers, market opening and service commitments, which are of great concern to enterprises.
Madam Pham Chi Lan, former member of the Prime Minister’s Research Committee, spoke of opportunities and challenges encountered by Vietnamese companies in the international economic integration context. She also proposed measures for companies to develop suitable cooperation and competition strategies.
