British Investors Keen on Vietnam Stock Market
British financial investors are very interested in Vietnam’s stock market, said British finance mayor John Stuttard in his visit to the Ho Chi Minh Securities Trading Center (HSTC) May 5.
They are paying attention to the development of Vietnam’s stock market, as well as shares of Vietnamese enterprises, he added.
Foreign companies are encouraged to list shares on London’s stock market. At present, 600 foreign companies are listed on this market, including 160 Asian companies.
Vietnamese companies listed on London stock exchange have raised capital of $1.8 billion so far, he said.
The mayor is mulling a memorandum of understanding (MOU) between the London and Ho Chi Minh City securities trading centers to make it easier for businesses to list shares on the bourses of the two countries.
The London stock exchange will open programs to help Vietnamese companies understand British trading rules and train human resources in finance and securities.
Tran Dac Sinh, director of HSTC, said Vietnamese enterprises are also interested in the London bourse.
Vietnam will equitize four state-owned banks, expecting to mobilize foreign capital from the London financial market, Sinh said. (Securities Investment, HSTC)
