The Australia-New Zealand Banking Group (ANZ) has begun another issue of certificates of deposit (CDs) in Vietnam with expectation to raise US$20 million.

The CDs will have denominations of the US dollar, Euro, British pound and Australian dollar, issued in ANZ’s Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City branches.

The bank offers interest rates of between 4.1 per cent and 4.45 per cent a year for USD deposits of 1-12 months.

The seventh CD issue will last to September 14, 2007.

ANZ is the only bank to issue CDs in foreign currencies with competitive interest rates to meet diversified demands of customers in Vietnam.

ANZ, the first foreign bank to enter Vietnam, opened its Hanoi branch in February 1993, and its second branch in Ho Chi Minh City in 1996. It has launched a big promotion program to mark 15-year operation in the country. (Vietnam Economic Times, Investment)
