Car Sales Soar 88 per cent in Jan-October

Vietnam Automobile Manufacturers Association (VAMA) has announced car sales of its 17 member carmakers rose to 58,320 units in the past ten months, up 88 per cent on year.

 

The October auto sales rose on 100 per cent month and 125 per cent on year to 9,081 units, VAMA said.

 

All of the carmakers saw a strong growth of sales of three types of cars. They sold 4,823 units of the commercial vehicle in October, up 170 per cent on year, and 27,788 units in the ten months, up 96 per cent, 2,394 units of SUV/MPV models, up 71 per cent on year and 17,789 units, up 54 per cent and 1,864 units of passenger cars, up 120 per cent on year, and 12,743 units, up 141 per cent.

 

Toyota still took the lead with 2,016 vehicles sold in the month and 15,595 units in ten month span, up 22 per cent and 26.7 per cent over the same period last year, respectively.

 

Vinamotor, the newest reported member has become the second top seller with 1,268 units in October, bringing its January-October sales to 2,173 units, up 14 per cent and 3.7 per cent on year.

 

Truong Hai Auto reportedly sold 1,209 units in October, up 13 per cent on year and held 13.3 per cent of the market share.

 

According to government’s general statistics office, Vietnam imported 19,000 finished cars valued at US$376 million in the ten months, up 85.1 per cent on year in volume and 123.4 per cent in value.
