Deputy PM Asks for Best Electricity Supply
Vietnam’s electricity sector must ensure the best supply of power for production and household consumption across the country; and any blackouts should be planned and openly announced, said Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai.
In case of gas shortfall, the sector is allowed to use diesel oil (DO) to feed gas-fueled turbines of Nhon Trach 1 and Ca Mau power plants.
The sector must assign personnel always on duty timely respond to emergent situations.
The state-owned Electricity of Vietnam Group (EVN) is requested to tightly coordinate with the Vietnam Machinery Installation Corporation (Lilama) so as to operate stably turbines of Uong Bi 1 expanded thermal power plant and Tuyen Quang hydropower plant.
State-run oil monopoly PetroVietnam group is responsible for coordinating with Lilama and Construction Corp No. 1 to appraise and hand over the complex of Nhon Trach 1 power plant and Ca Mau 2 power plant while ensuring sufficient gas and oil supplies for on-time and stable operation.
Vietnam is forecast to face a power shortage of between 1,500 MW and 2,220 MW between June and July this year as the current serviceable capacity of the country's power system reaching between 10,780 MW and 11,500 MW, much lower than the national peak demand of 13,000 MW during the time, EVN said.
