Locating 40 kilometres to the southwest of Da Nang City and lying on an altitude of 1,487 metres, Ba Na - Nui Chua is a famous tourist site beautified by primitive landscapes and cool climate, with annual average temperature of 17-20 degrees Celsius in the well-known land of sea, sunlight and wind.
To Ba Na, you will strangely feel four different seasons within a day: The spring climate is in the morning, the summer comes at noon, the autumn falls on the afternoon and the winter is felt in the evening. Unlike Da Lat City, the most famous tourist destination in central Vietnam, it is drier in Ba Na because it is less rainy. Marvellously, you can see the rain falling on the flank of the mountain but its mount remains dry, cloudless, cool and clear. Compared with Tam Dao, one of the most famous destinations in northern Vietnam, and Da Lat, Ba Na has a better visibility of the scenery. From the peak of the mountain, you can see the whole of an immense space: The sea, Da Nang City and rice paddy toward the green horizon.
From May to August, the temperature is the highest in the central coast, usually at 38oC but it is only between 17oC and 20oC in Ba Na, sometimes reaching 22oC - 25oC. But at night, the temperature falls to 15oC, the same feeling in a medium winter in the north of Vietnam. Ba Na is also a valuable natural reserve zone where 544 species of plants and 256 animal species are living, including six species of plants and 44 species of animals listed in Vietnam’s red book.
To Ba Na, you will feel a sense of getting lost in the world of clouds and dews. Each person has his own way to feel Ba Na but there is a common conception that Ba Na is the best in the world to rest and relax.
With such great advantages, since early 1900s, French invaders chose Ba Na as a holiday resort and built a number of villas, palaces and castles. But act of god and war blurred vestiges of palaces, castles and old houses. Endowed with beautiful nature with primitive forests, romantic springs and cool climate, Ba Na is always a top choice for any travellers.
On the top of Ba Na Mountain, Linh Ung Pagoda stands out with a 27-metre Buddha statue looking like sitting in meditation - the highest Buddha statue in Southeast Asian region. Every year, thousands of people visit the sacred pagoda to pray for safety, fortune, prosperity and happiness for their relatives and for themselves.
Currently, a number of villas in the Ba Na tourist site have been renovated with full amenities and modern services available to serve the residents. Many of the villas of the State as well as of the private have been built here, enough to meet the needs of sightseers. Especially, in March 2009, Ba Na Telpher Joint Stock Company of Da Nang City inaugurated a modern cable car system that the Ba Na telpher has been honoured by the Guinness World Records organization for two world records, namely, the world’s longest one-wire telpher network and the telpher with the highest gap between the lowest and the highest stations. The cable car network is 5,042.62 meters in length 1,292 metres in slope. It takes 15 minutes and half for visitors to go from the foot of Ba Na Mountain to the Vong Nguyet Hill.
From the cable car, you can contemplate the entire coastal city of Da Nang hiding beneath the clouds and the primitive forest below. As known, this is an important point in the tourists’ route and when the telpher line puts into operation. This work is expected to bring more tourists to Ba Na in the future, a leverage to wake up the potentiality of the tourist site.
Ba Na, a combination of mist, vagueness and romance will give you different feelings at different time.
Under the foot of Ba Na Mountain, Suoi Mo Spring attracts many tourists, especially in summer, where there is nine-step Toc Tien waterfall. The combination of the enormous mountains and the cool white water will help us leave behind the day of the fatigue life to enjoy moments of relaxation.
