Halong tourism festival 2009 will be held between 24 April and 2 May in Bai Chay tourism area and Halong city centre. This is a special and attractive cultural, sports and tourism event in order to exploit, improve and advertise cultural values of beauty spots of Quang Ninh tourism sector. Vietnam Business Forum reporter interviews Ms Nhu Thi Hong Lien, Vice Chairwoman of Quang Ninh provincial People’s Committee, on activities held in this year’s Halong tourism festival.
Would you please let us know about activities of Halong Tourism Festival 2009?
This year’s Halong tourism festival is organized in a long period, from 24 April to 2 May. There will be lots of unique advertising activities for Quang Ninh’s tourism.
This is the third consecutive year that Quang Ninh has held the carnival. This is a festival open to all of tourists. Everyone coming to Quang Ninh on this occasion is able to participate in the festival without ticket.
Halong heritage night is organized for the first time with the participation of places with heritages, including Thua Thien Hue, the Central Highlands, Thailand, and China.
The trade fair held annually brings very good results in the development process of the commerce sector, helping seek markets for domestic and international enterprises which join the fair. This year, this activity will take place on 23 April in Halong city, which enables tourists to Halong to have time to know more about the market as well as domestic and foreign products present in Quang Ninh province.
Apart from above activities, there will also be such activities as beautiful dancing couple contest, international female volleyball prize in Tuan Chau, boat rowing, entertaining activities on the bay, and music concert on Titop island.
Via this festival, Quang Ninh wants to create its own brand name, doesn’t it?
Halong tourism festival has been held for the last two years and we hope that it will become a special tourism product. We, therefore, have to try a lot so that once this occasion is mentioned, tourists will think of an impressive Halong festival which is held between 25 April and 1 May on Halong bay.
Could you please tell us about the preparation for the festival?
We have finished preparation for the festival and currently, we are conducting propaganda task. We have signed contracts to get done such stages as: Carnival, inviting domestic and international guests to the festival, making changes to the city, dealing with environmental issues, creating the most favourable conditions to direct restaurants and hotels to improve their service quality, accelerating state management task for better services to meet demands of tourists. Hopefully, tourists coming to Halong festival this year will be satisfied.
