Vietnam Seeks Japan’s ODA for 10 Projects This Fiscal Year

The government of Vietnam is seeking more official development assistance (ODA) from Japan for a list of ten key infrastructure projects for the second phase of this fiscal year.
 
The Ministry of Planning and Investment has submitted the projects to the prime minister for approval.
 
Of the projects, the East-West avenue is expected to get JPY12.68 billion (US$139.24 million) from Japan, Can Tho Bridge with JPY1.21 billion, the third phase of bridge upgrade on National Highways 1 with JPY3.13 billion and Cai Mep-Thi Vai port with US$16.65 billion.
 
The list also includes T2 terminal at Noi Bai International Airport, infrastructure development at Hoa Lac Hi-tech Park, road linking Nhat Tan Bridget to Noi Bai airport, Danang-Quang Ngai road section on the North-South Highway and an aerospace research center.
 
In the first stage of fiscal year 2009, the Japanese government pledged to provide JPY64.89-billion ODA for five programs and projects in Vietnam. 
 
The Japanese government is expected to provide US$1.5 billion in aids for Vietnam this year, according to the Japanese Ambassador in Vietnam Mitsuo Sakaba as saying. (Labor, Investment)
