Vietnam Calling on Japan Investors to Join Infrastructure Projects
Vietnam is calling on Japanese investors to take part in infrastructure development projects, Deputy Minister of Transport Ngo Thinh Duc told Japanese officials in Hanoi on March 10.
Deputy Minister Duc said that the government is looking for ODA from Japan for Hanoi-Ho Chi Minh railway and expressway projects.
Japanese officials said they are interested in incentives offered by the Vietnamese government for infrastructure development projects which are planned for next years.
The Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) said in a report that Vietnam is still an attractive destination for Japanese investors.
Ambassador Mitsuo Sakaba said the Japanese will continue providing development aid for Vietnam in the next financial year after it signed the second ODA package worth of JPY25.82 billion for the fiscal year of 2009 Mar 2, following the first worth JPY109.791 billion.
As of end-November last year, Japanese companies invested in $17.8 billion in nearly 1,200 projects in Vietnam, ranking the fourth among foreign investors in the country. (Transport)
