Moc Chau Planned to Be Regional Tourism Development Centre
The Prime Minister recently approved the master plan for the development of Moc Chau National Tourism Zone in the northern province of Son La to 2020, with a vision to 2030. The zone, covering an area of 206,150 ha, is located on the districts of Moc Chau and Van Ho.
The zone is expected to receive more than 1.2 million tourists by 2020 and 3 million by 2030, of whom 50,000 are foreigners. It is hoped to generate a revenue VND1,500 billion a year by 2020 and VND6,000 billion by 2030.
The Moc Chau National Tourism Zone will be built into a key area for developing tourism in Son La in particular and the whole northern midland and mountainous region in general. It will feature diversified and unique tourism products with high competitiveness in combination with natural landscapes and hill-tribe cultural identities.
The zone aims to attract tourists from the Red River Delta and the Northern midlands and mountainous region, as well as foreigners from the Western Europe, North America, Northeast Asia and Southeast Asia. It will develop attractive, competitive tourism products; improve the quality of tourism products and services like travel, accommodation, restaurant and entertainment; develop convalescence services, medical tourism services, agriculture-based ecotourism, historic and cultural tourism, sightseeing and homestay.
The zone will include three key tourism centres, namely the Moc Chau Convalescence Centre, the Moc Chau Ecotourism Centre and the Moc Chau Recreational Centre. It will attract investors to develop key tourism sites like Ban Ang Pine Forest, Dai Yem Waterfall and Long Sap Border Gate Trade Centre, Xuan Nha Forest. International tourist routes from Moc Chau to Laos and other ASEAN countries like Thailand and Myanmar will be set up.
