Students' Business Start-up Encouraged
A prize presentation ceremony of the contest ‘Students’ Business Start-up’ was held at the headquarters of the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) on October 5 night. The contest was jointly held by Vietnam Business Forum newspaper and the General Engineering (GE) Company.
Tran Thi Thuy, vice president of VCCI and head of the organisers, said that after five months, the contest attracted over 100 projects, of which 13 qualified for the finals. The event offered students an opportunity to develop their creativity, applying knowledge to plan feasible business start-up projects. At the same time, the Council of Women Entrepreneurs has co-operated with the GE Company and the ‘FPT Incubator of Idea’ Fund to organised a contest on developing business plans for 2005 for women. The contest aims to help women develop their business. The organisers signed co-operation agreements with the ‘FPT Incubator of Idea’ Fund and the ‘Incubator of Technology’ of the Hanoi University of Technology to support technology application projects. The ‘FPT Incubator of Idea’ Fund pledged to donate 150 enterprises.
According to the jury, projects, which qualified for the finals, have high feasibility and some of them have been implemented. The first prize was presented to project ‘Realising Business Idea’ by Duong Thuy Hai from the Hanoi University of Foreign Trade and Ha Huy Thanh from the Hanoi National University. Two projects ‘Centre for Happy Families’ by Nguyen Gia Trung from the Hanoi University of Foreign Trade and ‘Student’s and Young People’s Tourism’ by Pham Quoc Hung, Ta Trung Kien, Nguyen Thi Mai ANh and Trinh Thi Bang Ha from the Hanoi National Economics University won the second prize.
