Deputy Prime Minister Vu Khoan has recently agreed to assign the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) to host and cooperate with relevant agencies to establish and effectively organise the Vietnam-Japan Business Forum in the period of 2006-2010.

The forum will act as a useful platform to timely providing Vietnamese and Japanese enterprises with legal documents, trade and investment policies of the two countries, information of potential, opportunities and challenges in doing business, strengthening exchanges between the two countries’ business communities, and effectively supporting Vietnamese enterprises in setting up business relations with Japanese partners.

The export value of Vietnam to Japan stood at US$3.5 billion in 2004, accounting for only 0.74 per cent of Japan’s import value. Regarding investment, Vietnam is becoming one of the attractive investment destinations of Japan and more and more Japanese investors are paying great attention to the Vietnamese market in recent years.
