Meeting Vietnamese-Bulgarian Businesses
On the occasion of Bulgarian Prime Minister Sergei Stanishev’s visit to Vietnam, a delegation of more than Bulgarian companies had a cosy meeting with more than 200 Vietnamese firms in Hanoi on November 23. President Sergei said this is a new era to boost up cooperation, exchange goods and develop business relation between the two countries. Bulgaria is strong at science and education; thus, proposing stronger cooperation in these fields.
According to the VCCI, since March 2001, Vietnam and Bulgaria mutually offered the most favoured nation status in trade. However, the trade turnover is still modest in comparison with the potentiality. The two-way trade value of the two countries reached US$16.4 million in 2004, US$22 million in 2005 and US$25 million in 2006. Vietnam principally exports coal, coffee, rubber, seafood, foodstuff, bamboo, pepper, apparels and footwear to Bulgaria while importing chemical, drugs, wine, machinery, ship equipment and technology.
