Vietnam, South Africa Boosting Trade, Investment

The South African Embassy in Vietnam, the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) and the People’s Committee of central highlands Lam Dong province yesterday held a joint seminar entitled “Vietnam-South Africa Investment and Trade Opportunities.”
 
Participants were introduced to the African country and people there, especially trade and investment advantages, and prospects of economic and trade ties between the two countries.
 
They also discussed possible cooperative opportunities in specific fields.
 
According to Calvin Tshidavhu, First Secretary of the South African Embassy in Vietnam, this seminar aimed to help Vietnamese businesses to have full and updated information on this potential market, to boost bilateral investment and trade activities.
 
In 2005, two-way trade between Vietnam and South Africa reached US$250 million, up 66.67 per cent from 2004. (Vietnam & World Economy)
