The third Vietnam Businessman Golf Tournament 2007 (VCCI Cup), hosted by Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), successfully finished on October 13, 2007 at Chi Linh Star Golf & Country Club, Hai Duong province, with the participation of nearly 140 golfers who were mainly business people in Vietnam.
Mr. Nicolas Lau, General Director of Malaysia-invested CICA Vietnam Ltd. won the Champion Cup for the second times. He was also the champion of the second golf tournament held in 2006. No Vietnamese businessman has won VCCI Cup Champion so far and this is a clear evidence that Vietnam’s golf industry is emerging and still left far behind.
Apart from the purpose of celebrating the Vietnam Entrepreneur Day (October 13, 2007), the special event of the Vietnam business community, the golf tournament aims to create a good chance for entrepreneurs to exchange views and strengthen multi-faceted relations in the Vietnam business community during the international integration, said Mr. Hoang Van Dung, Standing Vice President of VCCI.
Especially, the Organizing Board has decided to donate VND40 million from sponsorships and entry fee of golfers to local people seriously hit by floods in the Central of Vietnam, remarked Mr. Dung.
Valuable sponsorships from enterprises in Vietnam also contributed to the tournament’s success. Mr. Philip Crouch, Personal Financial Service General Manager of ANZ, showed his happiness to be the main sponsor of the event and pledged to continue sponsoring the next tournaments. “Being a “close friend” of business people, it is great honour for ANZ to be the main sponsor for the prestigious golf tournament. We hope that this is a good opportunity for us to meet together, exchange views and strengthen cooperation relations,” he said.
The tournament was more interesting when lots of valuable products and services were presented from lucky draws, including one Acer laptop from HiPT and six business class two-way tickets from Vietnam Airlines. The sport event also received strong support from the other sponsors of Motorola, Cathay Pacific, Golden Sand Resort & Spa, Carlsberg, Pepsi, Korean Air, Pacific Airlines, Hanoi Golf Club, Marcom, Tuan Chau Hotel & Resort, Furama, etc.
